The International Cricket Council (ICC) is scheduled to hold a virtual meeting with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday where the hybrid model for Champions Trophy 2025 could be finalised, a report in new agency PTI claims.It will be interesting to see whether the hybrid model, which will allow India to play their matches in a neutral venue, will only apply to the Champions Trophy 2025 or will the Pakistan cricket team be offered the same option during ICC events in India. It was reported a few days back that the ICC is ready to accept a model where Pakistan will also not travel to India for ICC events, at least till 2027. The 2026 men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka and it was reported that Pakistan will play their matches in Sri Lanka.AdvertisementBCCI agrees to hybrid model for future ICC events in India?The PTI report has once again claimed that during the 2026 T20 World Cup, India will have to travel to Colombo to play their match against Pakistan. However, things will only become clear when the official word is out.“There’s a virtual meeting tomorrow which ICC chairman Jay Shah will join from Brisbane. It is expected that ICC will make an official announcement after that,” an ICC official told PTI.The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly against Pakistan’s demand of not travelling to India for ICC events as they feel that there’s no security threat to any team However if ICC agrees to PCB’s demand then it would also signal that an agreement with BCCI has been reached.If a hybrid model is accepted for future ICC events then Pakistan will also not travel to India next year for the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup.Champions Trophy 2025 format and scheduleAs per the draft schedule, the Champions Trophy 2025 is expected to be played from 19 February to 9 March in Pakistan. India will play their matches in Dubai, as per PTI.The tournament will consist of eight teams divided into two groups of four teams. Two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals followed by the final on 9 March.
