Man Utd, Liverpool and Man City are all keen to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth

Manchester United could go up against Liverpool in an attempt to prise Milos Kerkez away from Bournemouth later this year. But the Red Devils could miss out on the left-back as he reportedly favours a move to Arne Slot’s side. United have fallen well behind the Merseyside outfit in the Premier League pecking order in recent years, with Liverpool storming clear at the top of the table this season after winning the title in 2020. And the 13-time Premier League champions could struggle to close the gap on their long-term rivals if they are unable to convince players to choose Old Trafford over Anfield.

According to The i Paper, Liverpool want Kerkez to become Andy Robertson’s successor and are planning to gazump United to get their hands on him.

Manchester City are also keen to sign the 21-year-old as they prepare for a major rebuild in the wake of a dismal run of form. And the Hungary international will choose Liverpool as he wants to link-up with Reds director of football Richard Hughes, who originally brought the player to England when he was working at Bournemouth.

United, Liverpool and City have all started to make contact with Kerkez’s representatives as they chase his signature. But Bournemouth, who signed the player from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023, have no plans to sell the ace in January. The Vitality Stadium club would, however, be willing to do business if a £50million offer was tabled. Kerkez started 22 Premier League matches during his maiden campaign in England and has gone on to start every league match for the Cherries this time around. The Hungarian has attracted plenty of suitors this season thanks to his top-class performances on the south coast. And he offered an insight into his life and style of play during an interview with The Guardian in the autumn. “Maybe people see how much I go forward and they forget about my defending but the first thing I’m good at is defending, one v one, in the duels,” the defender revealed.
