Liverpool have confirmed a new multi-year kit deal with Adidas which is set to be worth more than £60million per season.

The club will switch suppliers from August 1 after a five-year association with Nike and the new financial terms are an uplift on the present arrangement.

Placing an exact figure on the deal is difficult due to the incentivised nature of the contract, which will be shaped by shirt sales and performance on the pitch.

Sales of Liverpool’s Nike kit were boosted after they were worn by celebrities such as James, who is a minor shareholder LIVERPOOL FC

Under the terms of the Nike deal, the American company paid Liverpool a guaranteed £30million a year, plus a 20 per cent royalty on net sales of Liverpool products.

They also promoted Liverpool’s kit through their roster of high-profile stars, including the basketball player LeBron James, who is a minor shareholder in the club, the tennis player Serena Williams and the musician Drake. That helped to swell the initial £30million payment to about double the amount.
