Brisbane Lions moved to Sydney ahead of grand final rematch against the Swans

A disrupted training schedule is not going to rattle the Brisbane Lions as the club is forced to relocate to Sydney ahead of their grand final rematch against the Swans.

Adverse weather conditions left the reigning premiers with no choice but to look for a "more suitable" training facility as they prepare to kick off their 2025 campaign.

The Lions have not trained at their Springfield facility since last Wednesday due to the landfall of Cyclone Alfred, with players now set to gather to train together.

Lions footy boss Danny Daly revealed the club had been working with the AFL to ensure the needs of players were met in the short transition to Sydney.

The team is set to depart for Sydney on Wednesday.

"First and foremost, on behalf of the football club I hope everyone in Queensland and New South Wales are safe and well. We are all praying for you," Daly said on Monday.

"The past week has been very unprecedented and not what we planned for, but these things do happen from time to time unfortunately. We are just grateful everyone has been able to get through it so far.

"We've got them back into the club today and they'll have a hit-out indoors and get themselves up and going again.

"But, we've just got to see what's ahead in the next 24 hours in terms of where we can train (in Queensland on Tuesday)."

Daly confirmed that not all logistics have been finalised but the decision to move the team to Sydney early will be of great benefit ahead of the Friday night clash.

The 54-year-old cited the processes used during the COVID-19 pandemic as a valuable tool in understanding how to manage the severe weather situation.

"These things happen unfortunately in life, and you just need to be resilient, be calm about it and work your way through it," he said.

"I've got no doubt our preparation will be spot on leading into our game against Sydney."

The Gold Coast Suns have also been impacted by the aftermath of Cyclone Alfred, however have managed to get a light run of training into their schedule.
