The Yellow Jackets look to get back to winning ways after dropping a heartbreaking loss to No. 14 Duke last Sunday, 55-50. The two squads stood tied entering the fourth quarter, but the Jackets shot just 10.5 percent from the field in the final 10 minutes as the Blue Devils were able to walk away with the road win. Zoesha Smith logged her third double-double as a Yellow Jacket with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while junior Kara Dunn surpassed the 1,000-career points club in the outing.Miami comes into the contest on a two-game win streak after rallying for a 77-74 victory over Virginia on Thursday night. After shooting just over 30 percent in the first half, Miami shot 54.5 percent, including 43 percent from three-point range, in the second half to take the win. Haley Cavinder leads Miami, averaging 18.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. She is one of three Hurricanes averaging double-figure scoring numbers on the season.Georgia Tech looks to collect its second-straight win over Miami on Sunday, having topped the Hurricanes in overtime last March in Coral Gables. Miami, however, holds the slight edge in the all-time series, 22-18. Under the direction of coach Jim Culpepper, Georgia Tech competed its first year in the Georgia Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (GAIAW) in 1974-75 before joining the ACC in 1979-80. Tech has seen many highlights over 50 years, including playing in the NCAA Tournament 11 times, with two Sweet 16 appearances (2012, 2021), and producing nine WNBA draft picks, featuring first round draft picks Alex Montgomery and Sasha Goodlett. In its first postseason berth in school history, Georgia Tech captured the 1992 National Women’s Invitational Tournament. Currently in its sixth season under head coach Nell Fortner, the Yellow Jackets have reach postseason play three times in the last five years.Full Steam AheadFull Steam Ahead is a $500 million fundraising initiative to achieve Georgia Tech athletics’ goal of competing for championships at the highest level in the next era of intercollegiate athletics.
