Svajda Earns Wild Card Invite For Nexo Dallas Open

1
DALLAS (SMU) — SMU Men's Tennis junior Trevor Svajda earned a singles main card wild card invite for the Nexo Dallas Open, as announced on Wednesday. The tournament will be held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, on Feb. 7-15.

This will be Svajda's third appearance at the ATP Tour 500 tournament after making his debut at the tournament in 2024. He also earned a main draw wild card invite last year but fell in the first round of the tournament.

"It has been an incredible 12 months, and DO'25 really was the launching pad for me. I learned and grew so much playing at The Star in Frisco, and I'm thrilled to return for the Nexo Dallas Open next month," said Svajda.

"Thank you, Tournament Director Peter Lebedevs and GF Sports & Entertainment, for this opportunity. I could not be more honored to play in front of a home DFW crowd."

Svajda placed runner-up at the 2025 NCAA Singles Championship last fall. He became the first Mustang to reach the championship match since Richey Reneberg in 1986. He was ranked No. 2 in the ITA singles rankings and has opened the season with a straight set win over Mississippi State's No. 54 Benito Sanchez Martinez (6-2, 6-3).

This year's Nexo Dallas Open is highlighted by four of the highest-ranked American players in the world — Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, and 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals Champion Learner Tien — all of whom are scheduled to compete in North Texas. They are joined by Casper Ruud (Norway), Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgaria), Defending Nexo Dallas Open Champion Denis Shapovalov (Canada) and several notable players.
