Mo Salah makes Trent Alexander-Arnold opinion perfectly clear in three-word statement

Mohamed Salah summed his true feelings about Liverpool team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold by simply saying “I love him”.

The duo have been team-mates for seven-and-a-half years, with the defender enjoying his breakthrough into the first team in 2017 while Salah joined the club in the same year. Since then, their chemistry on the right flank has carved open countless opposition sides while becoming two of the world’s best players in their respective positions, winning every single club trophy available.

While they have helped Liverpool to the summit of the Premier League and Champions League tables this campaign, both of their Anfield futures beyond this summer remain unclear, with their respective contracts expiring at the end of the season.

Either of them departing will come as a huge blow to the fans as well as the club’s ambitions next season. But their strong bond is likely to survive in any case, with the forward counting Alexander-Arnold amongst his closest friends.

When asked in an interview with TNT Sports who his best friend in football is, the 32-year-old Egyptian began by saying: “I have many. Me and Eden Hazard when we see each other have so much fun. I’m close to Kostas [Tsimikas], I’m close to Dominik [Szoboszlai].

“Virgil [van Dijk] also, because we have been team-mates for eight years, so when we sit together and discuss we always have an incredible conversation. We have so much respect for each other."

He then added: “I like Trent a lot but he’s crazy. He doesn’t like to talk but I love him. Robbo [Andy Robertson] more for talking, Trent for listening.”

Alexander-Arnold recently singled out Salah as his closest team-mate, explaining: “Just how long we've known each other and how long we've played together, our bond and connection, especially on the pitch. Even though we could so many times, we never moan at each other. We just know each other's style of play."

The England international also revealed that he often visits Salah’s house for tea, before adding that the goalscorer once filmed an embarrassing video of him during one of his visits.

“Last time I went I was petrified,” Alexander-Arnold said. “He’s got cats and I don’t like cats. He’s got a video which I’ve told him can never come out. It can never come out. He’s basically got a video of me screaming because one of his cats jumps up near me and I’m screaming, like ‘Mo, help, help!’”

It could very well be their last few months living in such close proximity, with both players now able to speak to teams outside of England regarding a transfer.

Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. The Spanish giants approached Liverpool on New Year’s Eve with a reported offer of £20million, which the Reds rejected, though a free transfer in the summer remains a possibility.

Salah, meanwhile, has attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League and PSG. The Egyptian has been vocal about his frustration towards the Reds for not offering him new terms yet and recently reaffirmed that the two parties are still some way short of an agreement.
