Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ushered in 'very successful period' for Man Utd ace who played under him, he unlocked his potential

Former Manchester United and Besiktas manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had a massive influence on one Red Devils star during his reign at Old Trafford.

The 52-year-old Manchester United legend returned to the Premier League club in 2018 after Jose Mourinho was sacked as head coach at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s initial role was a caretaker manager during the 2018-19 season before a scintillating run saw him become a permanent appointment.

Following his confirmation as United manager in 2019, the Norwegian led the Red Devils to second place in the Premier League table in the 2020-21 campaign.

Solskjaer also reached the Europa League final with United in 2021, but the Red Devils fell short of major silverware after losing on penalties to Villarreal.

Marcus Rashford played a starring role under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford and the Barcelona summer signing thinks highly of the former United manager.

The 27-year-old England international, who is on loan at Barcelona, praised the impact that Solskjaer had on him during the Norwegian’s reign at the club.

Marcus Rashford insisted that his feelings about Solskjaer’s approach as a manager were something that other players echoed about United’s famed treble winner.

“Ole is a fantastic person,” he told Norwegian outlet TV 2.

“I loved playing under him. I can speak for many of the players at Manchester United when I say that we enjoyed playing for him.”

Despite challenging for the Premier League title in the 2020-21 season, Solskjaer’s reign as United manager would finally come to an end in the 2021-22 campaign.

Solskjaer made his exit from Old Trafford in 2021 after he was sacked, but Marcus Rashford has said that he doesn’t have a “bad word” to say about the United legend.

“We played good football under Ole,” Rashford added.

“It was a very successful period for me personally. He is a fantastic person, and I don’t have a bad word to say about him.”

Solskjaer made his long-awaited return to management with Turkish side Besiktas back in January, but the former United manager has since suffered another setback.

The United legend’s spell at the Super Lig outfit came to an end in August after Solskjaer was dismissed from his role as Besiktas head coach.
