Joy Omewa's goal seals Nottingham Forest win over Durham

Nigeria international Joy Omewa continued her fine start to English football by scoring her third goal of the 2025‑26 Women’s Super League 2 season, guiding Nottingham Forest Women to a 2‑1 win over Durham Women FC at The City Ground on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 23‑year‑old striker, who joined Forest in late January from Danish side Fortuna Hjørring on a contract running until the end of the season, opened the scoring early with a composed finish inside the box.

Chantelle Boye‑Hlorkah later doubled the lead before Durham pulled one back, but Omewa’s strike proved decisive in a tightly contested match.

Her goal marked her second in consecutive home games, following a scoring opener in Forest’s 2‑0 victory over Ipswich Town the previous Sunday.

Omewa’s prolific record in Denmark, 52 goals in 85 league appearances with Fortuna Hjørring and Kvindeligaen Player of the Season honours in 2024‑25, has translated seamlessly into English football.

Omewa’s physical presence, intelligent movement, and clinical finishing have quickly made her one of WSL2’s most exciting forwards.
