Ruben Amorim is just one game away from lifting his first trophy as Manchester United head coach.

A stunning 7-1 aggregate win over Athletic Club means that Manchester United have booked their spot in the 2025 Europa League final.

There is huge pressure on Ruben Amorim to win the Europa League to get United back into the Champions League next season.

The Red Devils will face Premier League rivals Tottenham in Bilbao on May 21st, and the entire season hinges on the trophy being brought back to Old Trafford.

Tottenham star is a boyhood Manchester United fan

The Europa League final is so important to United for a variety of reasons – it is the only route to European football next season and winning it would have a huge financial impact on the club and the summer transfer business.

But that is also the case for Tottenham, who sit 16th in the Premier League table – just under United. Ange Postecoglou finds himself under huge pressure and winning the Europa League is the only way for him to salvage Spurs’ season.

Postecoglou will need his biggest players to step up in Bilbao, including club captain Son Heung-Min.

Son has admitted he is a boyhood United fan, having grown up watching the likes of Ji-Sung Park play at Old Trafford.

Son also considers Ruud van Nistelrooy a father figure having played with the United legend at Hamburg before making his move to the Premier League.

United have frequently been linked with the South Korean star and Sir Alex Ferguson wished he managed Son during his time at Old Trafford, but at 32 years old it seems he will see out his career in North London.

Son Heung-Min returns from injury for Europa League final

Tottenham have had to cope without Son for their last six matches due to an ongoing foot injury. It kept him out of their Europa League quarter-final and semi-final clashes.

With the Europa League final now just 10 days away, Son is returning to fitness just in time to play in the Bilbao showpiece.

Tottenham face Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon and Postecoglou told the press that he is “half hopeful” that Son will get some minutes in the London derby.

It seems Tottenham will be without James Maddison for the final after he suffered a knee injury in the semi-finals.

Former United target Lucas Bergvall is also a long-term absentee for Spurs and will miss the final, while defender Radu Dragusin also saw his season come to an early end after an ACL injury.
