Injury Report | Lever and Viney closing in

VETERAN Demon duo Jake Lever and Jack Viney could return to face the Swans with Viney a test to return to action this weekend and Lever successfully ticking off managed VFL minutes.

Lever has been sidelined since Round 2 after undergoing ankle surgery following the North Melbourne clash.

The intercept king gathered 17 disposals and took eight marks in a half of football at Casey Fields last Saturday.

“Jake's had a great couple of weeks of training,” AFL High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith said.

“He completed some managed minutes on the weekend. He got through that really well. He'll continue to train fully with selection to be determined later in the week.

Viney has missed the last two matches following delayed concussion symptoms after Round 8 against West Coast.

“Jack's into the last few stages of his concussion protocol,” Griffith said.

“He's got to complete both of this week's team training sessions to be available.

“We'll train tomorrow and later on in the week. As long as he progresses through that without any agitation of symptoms, he'll be available for selection this week.”

First-year Demon Xavier Linday is expected to take on the Swans despite a heavy hit against Brisbane.

“Xavier had that hit late in the fourth quarter. He just came off as he had a little bit of trouble with his speech and swallowing,” Griffith said.

“He was seen at the hospital in Brisbane and stayed overnight and was cleared from scans there.

“Once he returned to Melbourne we sought further specialist opinion that has cleared him of any further damage.

“He's obviously still recovering and he'll look to integrate into training this week and we expect that he'll be available this weekend."

Marty Hore is continuing his steady progress in his calf rehabilitation.

“Marty's going to integrate back into some training this week and then continue to just build his training integration and match volume to be available in the coming weeks.”
