Travis Hunter 'Took Accountability for' Missed Plays amid Viral Videos, Says Jags HC

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen isn't concerned about Travis Hunter having a rough first day in 11-on-11 drills for rookies on Monday.

Speaking to reporters after the practice, Coen explained that Hunter "took accountability for" missing a couple of assignments and overall everything is fine:

"So far, so good. He had a couple missed assignments today that he knew right away. He came off the grass and took accountability for them. The one thing you notice is as a guy that hasn't played a ton of football or been out conditioning maybe for the last two months because he was on a little bit of a tour … the guy can run forever. You can tell he's in football shape."

There was some panic among fans so far this offseason because of clips showing Hunter not quite clicking with Trevor Lawrence in their early work together.

Those same people expressing concern didn't seem to point out the times when Hunter and Lawrence were on the same page.

Anyone wanting to act concerned about Hunter right now is dramatically overreacting. It's important to remember this is the first time he's focusing primarily on playing wide receiver.

Coen said after the draft the plan is for Hunter to work with the offense to start his career, while getting him familiar with the defensive system so he can eventually get work in the secondary later in the offseason.

There are going to be things Hunter has to learn to play wide receiver in the NFL that he didn't have to know in college because he could win on pure athleticism. The same thing goes for when he is lining up at cornerback.
