Man United are unlikely to pursue a summer deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, sources have told Football Insider.

There is a lot of interest in the 22-year-old, but the price tag set by Frankfurt is putting many sides off a potential move.

United have been linked with Ekitike in recent weeks as they look to add a centre forward to their ranks ahead of the upcoming campaign.

However, Frankfurt want close to £85million for the France Under-21 international – and the Red Devils cannot afford a deal at that price.

Man United can’t afford Ekitike deal

Frankfurt are not in a position where they must sell Ekitike this summer and therefore are able to hold out for that figure.

Last season, the forward scored 15 Bundesliga goals – as well as picking up eight assists – as he helped his side secure Champions League football.

Ekitike has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, as well as Man United, with his good form in Germany catching the eye.

Amorim has already added Matheus Cunha to his squad this summer, with Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo also expected to make the move to Old Trafford.

Despite the incomings, the Portuguese manager is still desperate to bring in a centre forward, with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee flattering to deceive last season.

But with Frankfurt standing strong on their valuation, the Red Devils are set to be forced to look elsewhere.

Garnacho could remain in the Premier League

Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho is reportedly interested in remaining in the Premier League if he leaves Man United this summer.

That is according to the Red Devils’ former scout Mick Brown, who claims that that there is no shortage of interest in the 20-year-old from English sides.

Following a bust-up with Amorim over his role in the squad, the Argentina international is widely expected to walk away from United this summer.

Chelsea are believed to be chief among the interested clubs after missing out on a deal during the January transfer window alongside Serie A winners Napoli.
