Robert Lewandowski was the match-winner for Barcelona on Sunday as Hansi Flick’s side beat Alaves 1-0 in La Liga at Montjuic. The victory means that the Catalans have cut the gap to league leaders Real Madrid to just four points after 22 games played.Lewandowski says it was a must-win for Barca and admitted it was tough going against a physical Alaves team.“Before the match we knew we had to win. We are a few points down and the most important thing is to win. Right now we have to play to win and then look at the standings,” he told Movistar. “Games like today are important. We can’t always win by three, four or five goals. A team that plays very low and very well defensively. That’s football. If we play with patience and in the end we score one more than the opponent, we’re happy. “There are games in which we don’t have many scoring chances, like today, but we do get into the box. We’ve already lost enough points in the League. Right now the important thing is to win, even if it’s by one more goal than the opponent. We’re happy.”The title race is likely to take another twist next weekend as Real Madrid host Atletico on Saturday before Barcelona head to Sevilla on Sunday night.
