Galway's Liam Gordon has been confirmed as the referee for this year's All-Ireland hurling final between Cork and Tipperary. The Killimor clubman has previously overseen the 2019 Under-20 All-Ireland decider between the same counties which Tipperary won at the Gaelic Grounds. He also refereed the 2023 Munster hurling final at the same venue, where Limerick edged out Clare by a point in a dramatic provincial decider. He was also the referee for last year's All-Ireland semi-final between Kilkenny and Clare. This season, he officiated the All-Ireland quarter-final between Dublin and Limerick, in which Chris Crummey was sent off in the first half but where John Kiely's side was sensationally eliminated from the championship. This will be the third Cork game that Gordon has officiated in this year's championship, having reffed their drawn match with Clare in Ennis and their heavy loss to Limerick in Round 3 of the Munster SHC.Gordon will be joined by his line umpires, Sean Stack and Thomas Walsh, with Stack pencilled in as the stand-by referee.Watch the Tailteann Cup final, Limerick v Kildare, on Saturday from 2.15pm on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player.
