Lahore girls win Khelta Punjab Pink Games trophy

LAHORE - The Khelta Punjab Pink Games 2026 concluded with a colourful closing ceremony at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex on Sunday, with Lahore Division emerging as overall champions.

Lahore topped the medal table with 35 medals (25 gold, 10 silver), followed by Faisalabad with 25 medals (9 gold, 16 silver), while Multan secured third position with 15 medals (9 gold, 6 silver). Punjab Minister for Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar awarded the winners’ trophy and distributed Rs 7 million in cash prizes among the top teams. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also announced Rs 20 million in additional rewards for leading performers.

Addressing the ceremony, the minister said a record 3,400 athletes participated in the five-day event, terming it the largest women’s sports festival ever held in any province of Pakistan. Scholarships under the Punjab Sports Endowment Fund were also announced for top performers, ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 100,000 per month. Officials of Sports Board Punjab and divisional sports officers were also present on the occasion.

Director General Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry highlighted that several new sports disciplines, including padel tennis, were introduced in this year’s edition to broaden participation and modernize the competition structure. He expressed confidence that the next edition of the Pink Games would be organized on an even larger scale with improved planning and greater discipline, further strengthening Punjab’s commitment to empowering women through sports.
