The Rabbitohs announced on Monday that they’ve acquired Broncos superstar Payne Haas on a multi-year deal from next season after Brisbane waived the 10-day cooling off period.

Haas is under contract for 2027 and 2028, with the Rabbitohs’ statement revealing that Haas has an option for 2029.

The 26-year-old is currently in England for Brisbane’s World Club Challenge bid and this year will attempt to help the Broncos to a second straight premiership this season before he makes his move to South Sydney.

“To put it simply, Payne is one of, if not the best player on the planet today, and we are very excited to see him wear the famous red and green jersey over the next three seasons and beyond,” Souths Head of Recruitment Mark Ellison said via a club-issued statement.

“His performances are always at the elite level, typified by his displays of endurance, courage and leadership.

“Payne has a longstanding relationship with Wayne (Bennett) and has played a lot of football with future Rabbitohs teammates such as David Fifita, Cameron Murray and Latrell Mitchell.”
