Thailand continue golden run

Gold medals continued to flow for Thailand at the Asean Para Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, with the highlight coming from Sasirawan Inthachot, who carved her name into the record books with a blistering sprint in the women's 100m T47 final.

At the 80th Anniversary Stadium, Sasirawan stormed to victory in 12.47 seconds, obliterating both the Asian and SEA Games records. Indonesia's Nanda Mei Sholihah claimed silver in 12.82, but the day belonged to the Thai sprinter, whose run was hailed as the performance of the Games so far.

Thailand also celebrated a one-two finish in the women's shot put F37 final, an event where all top-four finishers surpassed the previous Games record.

Fasai Yapakham struck gold with a throw of 8.82m, setting a new SEA Games mark. Compatriot Apasiri Nootsreatthee took silver with 8.47m, while Malaysia's Umi Syuhadah Binti Idris (8.18m) and Noshazwani Binti Marzuki (7.88m) claimed bronze and fourth place respectively.

In the women's long jump T11, Janjira Panyatib soared to 4.23m to secure gold, comfortably ahead of Vietnam's Thi Kim Thuy Vu, who managed 3.59m. Suneeporn Tanaomwon added another title in the women's 800m T11, crossing the line in 2:39.17, nearly six seconds clear of Janjira.

The Kingdom swept the women's 800m T12/T13 race, with Wassana Yimin leading home Nussaneen Sumalee and Paiwan Sodamook. Pagjiraporn Gagun later extended the tally with victory in the women's 1500m T46.

Para table tennis star Rungroj Thainiyom underlined his class by winning the men's singles TT6 competition. The world No.3 defeated Indonesia's Varly Jerico 3-0 (11-3, 12-10, 11-8) in the final round-robin match at Korat Hall, adding to the two silver medals he collected at the Paris Paralympics in 2024.

Thai fencers also shone, producing three gold medals. Duean Nakprasit overwhelmed compatriot Arrirat Saisin 15-1 in the women's individual epee A final, while Chintanakon Seepak edged Panadda Srithong 15-14 in the epee B decider. Chitiphat Charoenta followed with a 15-1 victory over teammate Anwar Wae in the men's individual foil B final.

Thai shooters dominated the mixed R3 10m air rifle prone SH1 event, sweeping the podium. Chutima Arunmat struck gold with 251.9 points, Woraprat Sirisak took silver on 251.5, and Atidet Intanon secured bronze with 229.4.

In the pool, Nattharinee Khajhonmatha won the women's 100m freestyle S14 in 1:01.71, with compatriot Wachiraphon Thavornvasu second in 1:03.36. Indonesia's Siti Aisyah claimed bronze in 1:05.16. Aekkarin Noithat added the men's 50m butterfly S6 gold in 33.66, ahead of the Philippines' Gary Bejino (34.89) and Thai teammate Channi Wongnonthaphum (40.36).

Wongkot Jaempreecha triumphed in the men's individual B7 lawn bowls competition, a demonstration event at the Games.
