City have now won only three of their last 14 games, and Thorup’s under-performing players were berated in the closing stages at the Den with chants of ‘You’re not fit to wear the shirt.’City’s head coach, players and backroom staff were also subjected to more criticism from the near 2,800 strong travelling support at the full-time whistle. One away fan invaded the pitch before he was apprehended and led away by security in the aftermath of Femi Azeez doubling Millwall’s lead in the first half.Thorup did not see that incident, but gets the growing frustration with Norwich closer to the bottom three than the top six in terms of points.“I don't think is the is the most clever thing to run onto the pitch. We have to avoid that. That's my take on that,” he said. “I don't think it's fair to run onto the pitch. There's some rules you have to follow when you are a football fan, no matter if your team is winning or losing, that's how it is. And I would expect people to behave in a certain way.“I didn't see the incident. I saw something was going on up that end, but the game was going on the other end, so I didn't see exactly what happened."But it is one out of many other fans. Let's not take that as a feeling for the bigger group, but obviously there is frustration, I get that, but there's also frustration amongst the players and amongst the coaches, because we want to get forward in a better way.“We also have to be realistic and look at the situation that we are struggling with at the moment. I cannot sit here and give promises and just say excuses or whatever. We are working as hard as we can, and that's the promise.“It's not for me to say too much towards the fans. We appreciate that they are there. We appreciate that they are there in big numbers, and also appreciate that a lot of them can see that we struggle at the moment."I don't think it's the right thing to hand out excuses or promises or whatever, because we are struggling, we are finding things difficult. I cannot promise that it will be better in Middlesbrough (on Saturday), but I can promise we do everything we can to make it better, and I can promise them that we really appreciate all the support that we get."It means a lot to us they are there in times where everything is not perfect.”The Dane spoke to the Pinkun at The Den on Monday afternoon.
