The Indian men’s cricket team will look to reinforce its continental supremacy when it starts its campaign at the Asia Cup 2025 against hosts UAE on Wednesday.

All matches of the Asia Cup 2025 cricket tournament will be available to watch via live streaming and live telecast in India.

This is the 17th edition of the Asia Cup, first held in 1983 as an ODI tournament. Since 2016, the event has alternated between the ODI and T20I formats.

The 2025 edition returns to the 20-over format as a lead-up to the T20 World Cup next year.

India are the defending Asia Cup champions as well as the most successful side in the tournament’s history with eight titles. Sri Lanka have won the trophy six times while the Pakistan cricket team has clinched the honours twice.

India’s marquee group-stage clash against arch-rivals Pakistan is slated for September 14. Should both progress, the India vs Pakistan rivalry could also play out in the Super 4s and potentially in the final on September 28.

Suryakumar Yadav will captain a 15-member Indian Asia Cup 2025 squad in the UAE, with Shubman Gill named vice-captain.

The squad also features in-form youngsters Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma, Indian Premier League stars Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma, and a potent bowling unit spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh.

A total of eight teams will contest the title, divided into two groups of four. The top two from each group will qualify for the Super 4s, with the two best teams from that stage contesting the final on September 28.

India are in Group A alongside Pakistan, hosts UAE and Oman. Group B features Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong China.

The Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE will be India’s first major multi-team ICC tournament since the retirement of stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the format after winning the T20 World Cup last year.
