Former Test cricketer Farooq Hameed. —PCB/FileLAHORE: Former Test cricketer Farooq Hameed breathed his last at the age of 80 on Thursday. Farooq Hameed was Pakistan’s Test cap number 48 and represented the country in one Test match against Australia in December 1964 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Former Australia captain Ian Chappell was his solitary Test wicket.Farooq, who was a right-arm fast bowler, played 43 first-class matches and his career stretched from 1961 to 1970. He picked up 111 wickets at an average of 25.21 with three five-wicket hauls. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi expressed their deep sorrow over the passing of Farooq.
