No parade or ceremony for India’s Champions Trophy 2025 winners

The Indian cricket team will not have a grand celebration after winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not planned a bus parade or ceremony.

This is different from last year when the team won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. After that victory, a huge parade took place in Mumbai, with thousands of fans joining the celebration, followed by an event at Wankhede Stadium.

However, this time, the players are returning home separately. Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya arrived in Mumbai on Monday night, where they received a warm welcome. Head coach Gautam Gambhir and fast bowler Harshit Rana reached New Delhi, while Virat Kohli is expected to return soon.

“All the players with families left from Dubai on Monday. There are some players who have stayed back for a couple of days,” a BCCI source said.

Indian media reports suggest that the reason for the separate arrivals is the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins on March 22. The players need to join their IPL franchises before the tournament starts.

Interestingly, the BCCI did not organize a bus parade for India’s Champions Trophy victory in 2013 either. Reports suggest that such celebrations are usually reserved for India’s World Cup wins on foreign soil.
