Alexander Isak shares true Newcastle United feelings after Liverpool star booed for Sweden

Alexander Isak left Newcastle for Liverpool in a blockbuster deal on deadline day and the striker has now been reflecting on the circumstances that led him to sealing his move.

Alexander Isak has refused to open up on his explosive exit from Newcastle United by insisting that it is a "closed chapter" in his career.

The Sweden forward sealed a record-breaking £130m switch to Liverpool from St James' Park on deadline day. The transfer came after Isak had publicly expressed his desire to leave Newcastle.

He also trained away from his teammates throughout the summer, with Newcastle chiefs eventually striking a deal with their Liverpool counterparts. Isak made his first appearance of the season on Monday night as Sweden fell to a 2-0 defeat to Kosovo - a game in which he was booed by the crowd.

And asked for his take on the saga that saw him leave the North East, he refused, instead preferring to focus on his new employers.

Speaking to Aftonbladet, he said: "That's part of football. I can't control everything that is said or written. But I'm glad I became a Liverpool player. That's what I wanted and I'm happy about that.

"There is a lot to discuss, and it can be discussed for a long time.

"It has been educational, and I'm happy with the final result. I'm happy and proud to be a Liverpool player.

"I don't want to go into details or talk about that situation too much. It is a closed chapter, but I've never had any problems."

Isak's latest outing for Sweden lasted just 18 minutes, with national team manager Jon Dahl Tomasson aware that he is not up to full speed.

But Isak was just glad that the saga was wrapped up before he joined up with his Sweden teammates.

He added: "It's great that everything was settled before the camp and that I could focus on playing football again.

"It's been a fairly new situation for me, but you always learn and develop mentally off the pitch as well."

Isak could, potentially, be in line to make his Liverpool debut this weekend as Arne Slot's side travel to Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
