Slovenia teammate doesn't expect Benjamin Sesko to join them

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko is seemingly out with an injury, as his Slovenia teammate reveals he’s unlikely to join them.

The 23-year-old hurt himself while attempting a shot on target during the 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The centre-forward had only entered the match in the second half, but had to leave the pitch prematurely, leaving Ruben Amorim’s side with a numerical disadvantage.

If the fashion in which he left the game wasn’t concerning enough, Sesko was later spotted limping out of the stadium, aggravating Man Utd’s worries.

The player’s injury has now been all but confirmed, as his Slovenia teammate Andraz Sporar revealed that he’s unlikely to join them.

“We will have to do without him,” said the Slovan Bratislava striker as reported by the Daily Mail writer Chris Wheeler on his X account.

The football journalist is also expecting Man Utd to release a statement shedding light on the striker’s condition later on Monday.

The MUFC was called up by his national team for their final two World Cup qualifiers against Kosovo and Sweden.

Sesko’s absence would certainly be a blow for the Red Devils, as Amorim considers him the solitary genuine centre-forward within his ranks. Therefore, replacing the former RB Leipzig striker won’t be an easy task.

Who can replace Sesko as Man Utd’s striker

In recent weeks, Amorim insisted that he sees Joshua Zirkzee as a No.10 rather than a centre-forward who leads the line.

The Dutchman has probably been reserved for December, when Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo head to the African Cup of Nations. However, the manager can’t afford to be too picky in times of crisis, so the former Bologna star could be the most natural replacement to fill in for Sesko.

On the other hand, Matheus Cunha has already interpreted the No.9 role on several occasions this season, so the Portuguese tactician could once again resort to his services, while fielding Mason Mount as an attacking midfielder.
