No men’s player knows what it takes to win the Australian Open quite like Novak Djokovic.

The Serbian tennis great has been on the winning end of this tournament on 10 previous occasions – a record in the men’s singles.

His first Grand Slam title in Oceania came in 2008, going on to complete the double twice (2011 & 2012, 2015 & 2016), followed by an impressive ‘three-peat’ between 2019 and 2021.

At 38-year-old, his unprecedented longevity sees him enter this month’s tournament ranked fourth in the world, the latest major title coming at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games where he won gold.

There are a handful of records that stand to fall should Djokovic win an 11th Australian Open down under, equalling Margaret Court’s all-time tally in the women’s singles.

The duo are level on 24 Grand Slam titles, meaning he could move clear of the retired Court in the all-time standings with 25 should he win in Melbourne.

In doing so, he would also become the oldest man in the Open era to win a Grand Slam singles title.

Djokovic opens his account against Spain’s Pedro Martinez.
