Thomas Frank has been paying close attention to the progress Manchester United have made under Michael Carrick ahead of Tottenham’s upcoming trip to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have been on fire lately, with Michael Carrick winning his first three games since returning to Old Trafford as head coach until the end of the season.

The recent run of results gives United a much better chance to establish its top-four credentials. If the Red Devils secure a Champions League spot this season, achieving a season objective, Carrick may have a case to warrant the job permanently.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank was complimentary of Carrick when asked about his opposing manager during Thursday’s press conference.

Frank is under intense pressure at Tottenham after a poor start at the club, though it’s worth noting that they finished 17th in the league last season and still managed to beat United in the Europa League final.

However, after United’s recent run of wins, Tottenham will feel they are coming up against a more serious outfit.

A win for United would keep the Red Devils in the top four.

When asked about Carrick’s return to Old Trafford, Frank told reporters what changes he has noticed at United.

“I think he has had a great start,” Frank said, as per Sky Sports News.

“It seems like there was injected a little bit of energy into the team.

“I think it looks like some of the players are in a good place. We know the threats that I also think they posed before from Bryan Mbeumo, Amad, Cunha and Bruno Fernandes, he’s getting this team ticking.

“He has done that the last, I don’t know, four or five years. It has been incredible. It is a threat, it is a challenge, but we are looking forward to it.”

Frank has noticed several positive changes since Carrick’s return, which doesn’t paint a very pretty picture of Amorim’s 14-month reign.

United fans will be hoping the team can back up recent performances that delivered wins over Man City, Arsenal and Fulham.

Carrick interviewed Frank earlier this season ahead of a Champions League tie involving Tottenham.

Having spent two seasons at Tottenham between 2004 and 2006, Carrick spoke highly of a previous meeting he had with Frank at Thursday’s pre-match press conference.

“I really enjoyed it,” Carrick told reporters.

“We got on really well. It was the first time I’d met him, we had a good chat about general football things, processes ideas.

“He was really accommodating. I enjoyed it, it will be good to see him again.

“I’ve got really fond memories of Tottenham and being at the club. I was there for a short time but really enjoyed it.

“Good team, Martin Jol was the manager and there were a lot of things I learnt at the club in that short period of time.

“Coming here was a big jump at the time, I certainly felt that pretty quickly.

“Once you step inside this place as a footballer, it turns you.

“So pretty much from the first day, walking into the dressing room, meeting the manager from then on, that was me.”
