Drake Maye, Messi and Mbappé: the No. 10 connection before Super Bowl LX

Drake Maye, quarterback of the New England Patriots, spoke to the media ahead of Super Bowl LX and revealed his passion for football while explaining the meaning behind wearing No. 10 — a number traditionally associated with the most talented players in the sport.

After leading the Patriots back to the Super Bowl, Maye expressed pride in carrying a jersey number that has long been linked to footballing excellence.

With a potential first Super Bowl ring on the line, Maye admitted he is a big fan of the FIFA video game and of football icons such as Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, and even Pelé.

“I’m a big fan of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappé. It turns out a lot of great footballers have worn that number as well. It ended up being a great number,” Maye said when discussing the significance of No. 10.

The quarterback also touched on the 2026 World Cup coming to the United States and recalled the memorable final between Argentina and France at Qatar 2022.

“It’s incredible that the World Cup is coming to the United States. There are some games I might be able to attend. I still remember the match where Messi won it against France — it was a great game and an amazing sport,” Maye added.

Everything is in place for the NFL’s biggest night. Super Bowl LX will feature the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, with both teams preparing for a high-stakes showdown where history and legacy are on the line.
