Hong Kong’s Baldwin Chan Ho-wah will take a step into the unknown next month at the Singapore Smash, when he makes his table tennis men’s doubles debut in the prestigious event. One half of the world’s top pairing, alongside compatriot Wong Chun-ting, Chan has only previously played in the singles competition at the city’s sports hub, The Kallang. The duo had a strong 2025, winning the WTT Contender Zagreb and fighting back to beat China’s Lin Shidong and Huang Youzheng in the final of Europe Smash.“I’ve never actually played doubles at Singapore Smash before,” Chan said. “I really hope I can do so this time and experience the atmosphere again. The last two times I played there, I could really feel the support from the Singaporean fans, and that left a strong impression on me.”Beating the Chinese pair in August lifted the Hongkongers to the top of the rankings, just ahead of South Korea’s Lim Jong-hoon and An Jae-hyun .Looking ahead, Chan believes the partnership with Wong is only getting stronger as they continue their pursuit of further success on the WTT stage.
