LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 20-ranked Texas Tech Lady Raiders open their spring season with a doubleheader at the McLeod Tennis Center on Sunday. First, Tech will play UTRGV at 11:30 a.m., before facing the ACU Wildcats at 3 p.m.The Lady Raiders lead the all-time series against UTRGV by a 4-0 record, winning the last meeting on March 27, 2022 by a 4-0 score. Tech also leads the series against Abilene Christian, 28-2, taking last year's match by a 6-0 sweep on Jan. 19, 2025.This past fall, the Lady Raiders we led in singles by freshman Kseniia Logvin with 11 wins. Both Ella Brownback and Elena Daskalova were just behind with nine wins apiece, followed by Hailey Murphy with eight. In doubles, there were two pairs who totaled a team-leading five wins in Brownback and Polina Sleptsova as well as Murphy and Yekaterina Dmitrichenko. Individually, Brownback and Daskalova led the way with 11 doubles victories.Scouting the OpponentsThe UTRGV Vaqueros also open their season this Sunday. Luna Buijtenhuijs led the team with five singles wins this fall, while four other Vaqueros totaled four singles wins each in Valentina Urraco, Mariia Bakhtina, Hitakamya Singh and Barbara Martinez. Bakhtina also totaled a team-leading three doubles wins this fall.ACU opens its season on Friday at SMU before playing in Lubbock. In singles this fall, Elsa Luthar posted a team-high of three wins, followed by Masha Vrsalovic and Alice Klinteby with two wins apiece.
