ISLAMABAD: Following the publication of a report on the financial plight of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) scorers, long-overdue payments have finally started trickling in.

Late Saturday night, several scorers received long-awaited cheques for two of the four national events — the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and the President One-Day Cup.

“We received the cheques late Saturday, but we can only deposit them after Eid. We had hoped for cash before the festivities. However, we are relieved to know that part of our earnings is secured,” one scorer told The News.

Though the battle for full compensation continues, this breakthrough marks a crucial step forward, highlighting the power of the press in amplifying the voices of the unheard.
