Man Utd transfer news: Marcus Rashford left in limbo as airport photo hints at imminent transfer

Manchester United are in desperate need of signings if they are to salvage their season.

The Red Devils’ goalscoring - or lack thereof - has caused real issues for Ruben Amorim’s side throughout the campaign. They have been linked with a host of stars throughout the past few weeks.

But before that, United need to sell before they can buy and as it stands, that is proving to be a real issue. PSR is so far preventing the club from spending heavily.

First summer signing spotted

But in more positive news, it appears that Man United are closer than ever to their first January signing. Defender Diego Leon has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford.

And he has been spotted at an airport ahead of officially completing his switch. According to reports in Paraguay, the Cerro Porteno defender is due to fly to England and undergo a medical.

Leon will not be allowed to join United officially until he becomes 18 in April. Amorim’s side are reportedly set to pay around £3million for the youngster.

Rashford left in limbo

Speaking of those that could leave, Marcus Rashford has been left with a significant decision to make over his future. The United forward looks primed to depart after admitting he was ready for a fresh challenge.

Italian side AC Milan emerged as contenders for his signature but Napoli could cause an issue. As per reports in Italy, Antonio Conte’s side are interested in him as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The Red Devils were initially hoping to receive around £70m for his signature but a loan deal now looks to be his most likely route of exit. It leaves plenty of work still to do for Rashford to seal a move away from Old Trafford before February.

Kolo Muani move in doubt

One man that could have been drafted in after Rashford’s exit was potentially PSG star Randal Kolo Muani. But a move for him is not easy either.

Premier League rivals Aston Villa emerged as contenders for his services, with a swap deal involving Jhon Duran a possibility. But now there is even more competition from Juventus.

Asked about Kolo Muani and other reported target Ronaldo Araujo, Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli said: “These are two good players, but the transfer window is only just opening and we hope to get some positive news over the next week.”
