Manchester United players are beginning to return in their droves to Carrington as the final international break of the Premier League season comes to an end.

The Reds are under no illusions that this season has been an unmitigated disaster in the top flight. Despite beating lowly Leicester City prior to the March break, United remain languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

With a top half finish looking a tall order, the main focus has to be the Europa League which is the Reds' most realistic route towards European football next season. Their quarter-final first leg at Lyon is on April 10 but before then there are still two crucial matches for morale to negotiate domestically.

First is a clash with Nottingham Forest on April 1 before they attempt to do the double over Manchester City on April 6. With this in mind, the Manchester Evening News has taken a look at the latest injury updates in the United squad.

Amad

Injury: Ankle

What we know: Ruben Amorim has said that a return for the Ivorian could come before the end of the season, depending on some variables with his recovery. Amad hinted on Tuesday that his return could come sooner rather than later though when he made a cryptic post on his social media channels.

Potential return date: May

Kobbie Mainoo

Injury: Muscular

What we know: Amorim is hopeful that Mainoo will make his return to the squad against Forest next week but it will depend how he gets through training at Carrington.

Potential return date: April 1 vs Nottingham Forest

Ayden Heaven

Injury: Ankle/foot

What we know: Heaven was seen in a protective boot following an injury sustained against Leicester but that has since been removed and the young centre-back could feature in training this week.

Potential return date: April

Harry Maguire

Injury: Unknown

What we know: Having been a stalwart this season, Maguire was not risked during the reunion against his former club prior to the international break but he should be back for another trip to the East Midlands next month.

Potential return date: April 1 vs Nottingham Forest

Tom Heaton

Injury: Unknown

What we know: Heaton is confident that his fitness issues are behind him and that he will be available for what could be a packed end to the season for the Reds.

Potential return date: April 1 vs Nottingham Forest

Luke Shaw

Injury: Muscular

What we know: It has been a season to forget for Shaw having suffered another injury setback in January. Amorim has insisted that the left-back will be 'ready soon' though.

Potential return date: April/May

Leny Yoro

Injury: Ankle/foot

What we know: Amorim is confident that Yoro's injury is not a long term one and hopefully the international break has allowed him to regain his fitness fully for the challenging end of the season.

Potential return date: April 1 vs Nottingham Forest

Altay Bayindir

Injury: Unknown

What we know: The Turkish shot stopper is on his personal road to recovery but exactly when he will return is unclear.

Jonny Evans

Injury: Muscular

What we know: Evans is currently recovering from an injury which hopefully won't end his playing career prematurely. It is expected the centre-back will retire at the end of this season.
