France’s Kyrian Jacquet won the Chennai Open 2025 tennis men’s singles title after beating Sweden’s Elias Ymer in the final at the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Nungambakkam, Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

World No. 273 Kyrian Jacquet beat Elias Ymer, 332nd in the rankings, 7(7)-6(1), 6-4 to win his maiden ATP singles tennis title.

Jacquet began the match positively by breaking Ymer’s serve in the opening game of the final. He then held his serve for the next three games before being broken by Ymer in the eighth game.

Both players held on to their serve for the remainder of the set, leading to a tie-break, which Jacquet won 7-1.

The Frenchman grew in confidence and broke Ymer in the fourth game of the second set to put himself in the driver’s seat.

Ymer fought back and broke Jacquet in the seventh game but it wasn’t enough as Jacquet broke Ymer again in the final game of the match to win the contest and clinch the Chennai Open title.

Earlier in the week, Jacquet beat India’s Karan Singh 6-3, 6-3 in the opening round of the tournament before defeating fourth seed Alexis Galarneau of Canada 6-2, 6-2 in the round of 16.

He then overcame fifth seed Shintaro Mochizuki of Japan 6-1, 4-6, 7(8)-6(6) in the quarter-final and booked a berth in the final after defeating Dalibor Svrcina of Czechia 6-4, 6-1 in the semi-final.

On Saturday, Indian tennis players Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni fell just short of successfully defending their Chennai Open doubles title after succumbing to a 6-4, 6-4 loss against Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki and Kaito Uesugi in the final.

Ramkumar Ramanathan was also a part of the men’s singles draw but lost in the opening round. Mukund Sasikumar also failed to cross the Round of 32 hurdle.
