Paul Pogba is still without a club following the conclusion of his doping ban. The former Manchester United midfielder was provisionally suspended in September 2023 after a random drug test found increased levels of testosterone in his system before being handed a four-year ban in February 2024.

He appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, who reduced the sanction from four years to 18 months, starting from September 2023. Pogba was eligible to partake in first-team training from January before playing competitively again in March.

The 32-year-old was expected to return to Juventus but he mutually agreed to terminate his deal, which wasn't set to expire until June 2026. He's been on the free agent market for a while now – and remains available.

So, with that being said, the Manchester Evening News has rounded up everything you need to know about Pogba and his next steps.

Pogba and Beckham link up

In February, Pogba linked up with David Beckham ahead of Inter Miami's first game of the new MLS season. Their exchange fuelled speculation that a move to the United States could be on the cards, but the Manchester United legend never wrapped up a deal.

Pogba clears up Marseille speculation

Speaking to French newspaper L’Equipe in November 2024, Pogba described reports of a move to Olympique Marseille, which would see him reunite with former United teammate Mason Greenwood, as 'not credible'. There had been reports he was in negotiations with the Ligue 1 side over a deal.

"I laugh, because it is Uncle Pat [Patrick Evra], he said it as a joke," said Pogba. "I am still under contract, so it is not credible. I already have a club, so I [am] only thinking about returning and getting out of this situation. Of course, nobody knows what tomorrow holds, so never say never."

Pogba announces Juventus exit

In November 2024, Pogba confirmed his departure from Juventus on Instagram. In an official statement, he said: "There are times when things don't go the way we want, but one thing is certain: the bond I have with you, dear fans, will remain unforgettable.

"You have given me so much, more than I can express in words, and I will always carry with me all the affection you have given me. You will always be in my heart. Good luck @juventus."

Juventus released their own statement to confirm Pogba's exit. The Italian giants said: "Juventus Football Club and Paul Pogba announce that they have reached a mutual agreement for the termination of their contract as of 30 November, 2024. The club wishes Paul the very best for his professional future."

Pogba quizzed on Premier League return

Speaking to Sky Sports in October 2024, Pogba was quizzed on his future. He said: "Where would I like to play? On the pitch! I would love to be on the pitch! Any pitch.

"First Juventus, I want to start training with team-mates. It's tough training alone - it passes by yourself! The main focus is to get back training and fit, to be on the pitch and do what I love."

On a potential return to the Premier League, Pogba said: "First of all, I am at Juventus under contract. I will see what they are thinking and the vision. My vision is to show I am a footballer. A new Paul Pogba with the same qualities. I am still ready."

Then, on going back to Old Trafford, he added: "You are twisting the question. I'm wiser. I've changed. You can't trick me any more. I don't want to lose the level I am at. If I can surpass it, this is what I want. I'm still the same player but with a different hunger. I am more motivated.

"I am more hungry. I will appreciate the game more than before after it was taken away from me. I realised how important it was for me. I tasted what life is after the career."

Arsenal urged to sign Pogba...

Last year, Bacary Sagna urged Arsenal to sign Pogba. Speaking on talkSPORT in October 2024, the former Gunners defender said: "It would be great – he has experience; he loves to play with young players around him – that is when he is most efficient.

"At the 2018 World Cup, that was when he was most efficient – he had friends around him. Arsenal have a young, fresh team, and I see him performing in an Arsenal shirt. He will get love from their fans.
