After cheering the USA women’s water polo team to fourth place at Paris 2024 as an official hype man, the rapper has switched sports to cheer on USA’s bobsleigh and skeleton teams at Milano Cortina 2026.

The founding member of Grammy-winning hip hop group Public Enemy was appointed hype man and sponsor of the two winter sport squads on Monday, 27 October.

Not wasting any time, Flavor Flav donned a stars-and-stripes racing suit and helmet, jumped on a skeleton sled and raced on the Utah Olympic Park track, going 106 kilometres (66 miles) per hour.

“I did it!” the elated rapper shouted after crossing the finish line. “This was so awesome.”

Flavor also tried out a passenger bobsleigh ride with members of pop rock band Maroon 5, and treated some athletes to a surprise trip to a concert of the band in Salt Lake City.

“We are thrilled to welcome Flavor Flav as an official sponsor and hype man for USA Bobsled/Skeleton,” the federation's CEO Aron McGiure said in a statement. “It’s clear he has a genuine passion for sports and an authentic love for the USA team. Flavor Flav embodies the same grit, dedication, and pride that define our athletes, and we’re excited to have him bring that excitement to our team and fans across the country.”

Flavor Flav spent several weeks in Paris in the summer of 2024 to cheer on the USA women’s water polo team, sporting flashy swimming caps, jerseys and amulets to their games.

In addition to his entusiastic support for the water polo team, he has also financially supported athletes from other sports. Notably, he teamed up with Alexis Ohanian, Reddit co-founder and husband of tennis great Serena Williams, to help USA discus thrower Veronica Fraley pay her rent.
