MOZZART BET CUP: Can BB Bread serve 2024 champions same dose they gave Gor, Leopards?

Giant slayers, BB Bread, have been handed yet another test in the 2026 Mozzart Bet Cup after being drawn against 2024 champions Kenya Police.

The Round of 16 draw, conducted on Monday, 23 March at the Nyayo National Stadium, sets up a thrilling encounter between the fairytale side and FKF Premier League defending champions.

BB Bread have been the story of this year’s competition, stunning Kenyan football giants AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia in the Round of 64 and Round of 32, respectively.

Their fearless run has seen them establish themselves as favourites for the title, currently at the hands of Nairobi United.

The draw ceremony was led by former Gor Mahia attacking midfielder Innocent Mutiso alongside ex-Bandari FC player Wilson Oburu.

The Round of 32 had delivered plenty of excitement, producing 53 goals across 16 matches.

Among the standout performances was Kariobangi Sharks player Humprey Aroko’s four-goal haul against Kenyatta University, while BB Bread’s famous victory over Gor Mahia was a show of the tournament’s unpredictable nature.

Meanwhile, defending champions Nairobi United face what could be their biggest hurdle yet after being drawn against Posta Rangers.

Nairobi United head into the tie under pressure following a 2-1 league match loss to Ulinzi Stars.

Other fixtures will see non-league side Kuta Collections continue their dream run against Shabana FC, while Mozzart Bet-sponsored 3K FC face 2019 champions, Bandari FC.

Eldoret-based Mfalme FC have been drawn against Murang’a Seal, while KCB FC take on Chebaiywa Lions.

2023 winners Kakamega Homeboyz will battle Ulinzi Stars in another all-Premier League contest.
