Alex Eala, Coco Gauff open Italian Open doubles run with win vs Panova, Stollar

Alex Eala of the Philippines and Coco Gauff of the United States opened their doubles run in the Italian Open with a dominant victory against the duo of Alexandra Panova and Fanny Stollar, 6-3, 6-1, on Saturday (Philippine time) in Rome.

The Round of 32 match lasted for only around an hour as the pair of Eala and Gauff will advance to the Round of 16.

The world no. 70 Eala recently made an early exit in the singles tournament of the said event after falling to Marta Kostyuk in the Round of 128.

World no. 3 and 2020 US Open champ Gauff, meanwhile, is still in the running in her singles campaign as she will face Poland's Magda Linette in the Round of 32 on Sunday.
