Emma Raducanu showed glimpses of her best in defeating Naomi Osaka in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 16 at the Mubadala Citi DC Open 2025 in Washington D.C. on Thursday (24 July) to advance to the quarter-finals.

Great Britain's Raducanu, the former U.S. Open women's singles champion, broke Osaka in the fifth game and went on to close out the first set 6-4 against the four-time Grand Slam winner.

The 22-year-old Raducanu, the world No.46, pressed home her advantage in the first game of the second set by breaking her Japanese opponent again. She then repeated the trick four games later to take a 4-1 lead, eventually finishing off both the set and the match 6-2.
