Australia's National Selection Panel (NSP), in consultation with the men's cricket team's medical staff, has ruled out a key all-rounder from the 2025 Champions Trophy due to injury.

Mitchell Marsh will miss the tournament in Pakistan after his injury failed to respond to rehabilitation efforts.

Marsh has been struggling with lower back pain in recent weeks, which led to the NSP making the decision for him to undergo a longer period of rest and rehabilitation.

As part of his recovery plan, Marsh will now take time off to focus on his rehabilitation before making his return to play.

The NSP will meet soon to decide on a replacement for Marsh in the squad for the Champions Trophy. The final squads for the tournament must be submitted before Wednesday, February 12.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to commence on February 19, with host and defending champions Pakistan taking on New Zealand in the opening match at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium.

Earlier, Australia has named its 15-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025
