Alejandro Davidovich Fokina starts from scratch in breakthrough year

With three weeks between Roland-Garros and Wimbledon, players must do what is necessary to recharge. For Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, that was getting married.

The Spanish tennis player tied the knot with his partner in mid-June 2025, having found the ideal window for their celebration: the switch between Grand Slams.

It was also aided by an early exit at the French Open, at the world number 27’s own admission, though that gave him more time to adapt to the pristine grass.

“They are unique experiences that only happen once in a lifetime – at least I hope so,” Davidovich Fokina tells Olympics.com in Spanish at the Championships 2025. “This schedule is so tight and we can't rest, because it's difficult to balance the dates.

“In the end we tried to set a date that was as logical as possible, which was after Roland-Garros. Between the fact that I lost quickly there and had some free days, I had time to rest, prepare the last wedding details and have a mini pre-season.”

The reset helped the 26-year-old reach the Eastbourne semi-finals and arrive in good spirits for Wimbledon, where he returns as a seed having withdrawn from the 2023 edition. What lies ahead in the blossoming year of ‘ADF’?
