The Board of Control for Cricket in India is not pleased with Sanju Samson for skipping the Vijay Hazare Trophy and is likely to be kept out of the team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He is under the scanner before the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel picks the team for the England ODI series and the Champions Trophy. The officials of the Indian Cricket Board and the selectors are angry with Samson’s decision not to play the Vijay Hazare Trophy despite clear communication on the importance of domestic cricket, according to a report in The Times of India. The Kerala Cricket Association didn’t include the player after he made himself unavailable for a preparatory camp ahead of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. KCA secretary Vinod S Kumar didn’t want to keep a young player out of the team because of no proper confirmation from Samson.“The instructions are clear on domestic cricket and everyone knows what happened with Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer when they missed Ranji Trophy matches without any valid reason. They lost the central contracts. Even in Samson’s case, the board and the selectors weren’t given a clear reason behind him missing from the tournament,” BCCI sources told The Times of India.Samson has been picked for the five T20Is against the visiting England side. “The selectors want a valid reason otherwise he will be kept out of the ODI team. Samson doesn’t share a good bond with KCA but he needs to put the differences aside to play domestic cricket. The misunderstanding is not the solid reason behind missing games,” the source added.Samson is competing with Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Dhruv Jurel for the two wicket-keepers’ spot in the Champions Trophy.
