What life could be like for Kyle Walker and Annie Kilner in Italy if Man City star moves to Milan

0
Milan is known as the city of fashion, but this month it could prove to be the city of footballing renaissance for one of England's most recognisable stars.

Kyle Walker informed Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola last week that he wanted to 'explore options to play abroad'.

The bombshell revelation came after Walker, who has been a star of the Premier League and regularly part of England squads over the past decade, has endured a difficult campaign.

Several clubs across Europe and beyond have subsequently been linked with moves for Walker, but AC Milan have emerged as the frontrunners for his signature.

It is understood that Walker is keen on staying in Europe for his family and to save his marriage to Annie Kilner, making Milan a suitable location.

So, in light of Walker contemplating a move to the Italian city, Mail Sport has taken a look at what life could be like for the England international and Kilner, and where they may be spending their time over the coming months.

Hotels

For Walker, a move to Milan would mark a major change in their lives.

Walker, who was born in Sheffield, has lived in Manchester since joining City from Tottenham in 2017.

To start with, he and Kilner would likely set-up shop in a hotel and there are a variety of popular options available for footballers in Milan.

One haunt for celebrities has proven to be the Royal Suite at the Principe di Savoia hotel.

The suite boasts marble floors, Venetian mirrors in the ornate sitting room and views over the spectacular Piazza della Republica.

The price of the suite is not available online, although given the Imperial Executive Suite at the hotel costs €7,400 (£6,239) per night, it is fair to say this is not a cheap stay.

On the hotel's website, it describes this 'one of a kind' option as: 'A vintage masterpiece for a very modern era, complete with a wonderful view and a Jacuzzi bathtub.'

However, it is not as eye-watering in price as the Bulgari Hotel, where the most expensive suite costs a staggering €20,000 (£16,863) a night.

The luxurious venue is based on a private street in the city and also has a huge private garden

This location describes itself as a 'tastefully renovated 18th-century Milanese palazzo', and is based on a private street in the 'commercial and cultural heart of the city', while the hotel also has a 4,000-square-meter private garden.

Other options available include the five-star luxury Armani Hotel in the centre of Milan, where a standard room can cost upwards of €2,800 (£2,360) a night.

The venue describes itself as a 'world of sophisticated beauty' and includes a spa, wellness and gym facilities, alongside a 'gourmet' dining experience.

Elsewhere, a favoured location for the super-rich has proven to be the Four Seasons hotel, a similarly glamourous spot near Milan's iconic Duomo cathedral.

Restaurants

Milan is known for its vast array of high-end restaurants, with players of both Inter and Milan able to live a life of luxury in the city.

One spot that Walker and Kilner may be seen frequenting is La Briciola restaurant in the centre of Milan.

The venue, which serves Mediterranean cuisine, has proven to be a favoured haunt for Milan and Inter stars.

It is a family-run venture that has seen a second restaurant open in the form of La Briciola Mare, its Milanese twin which focuses on fish specialities.

In a review on Flawless, La Briciola is described as 'the paramount place to be in Milan'.

Another place for footballers to dine has been the Ristorante Novecento, a restaurant that offers classic Italian cuisine.

Several punters have been left shocked at the presence of stars from both Milan and Inter when they've attended, with the venue known for its remote location and private areas.

Elsewhere, Beef Bar Milano, an exclusive restaurant in the heart of the city that offers 'a unique dining experience', and the Zelo Bar at the Four Seasons hotel are similarly popular haunts for stars.

Shopping

Given its status as the city of fashion, there are unsurprisingly several shops available for Walker to frequent if he is to make the switch to Italy.

In fact, a January move would him present for the iconic Milan Fashion Week, which takes place from February 25 to March 3.

The event always attracts celebrities from around the world, including footballers, with Trent Alexander-Arnold among those seen at last year's event.

Milan is known for its variety of luxury shops, including Via Montenapoleone, an upscale street that is called the 'Golden Mile' of shopping in Milan.

Exclusive and premium brands such as Versace, Armani, Valentino, Gucci, Prada, Rolex and Dior are based there, while Via della Spiga provides several more designer outlets for shoppers.

Meanwhile, Prata & Mastrale, a bespoke tailor in the city, is known for producing the finest shirts and morning suits that are tailor-made for the rich.

Bars and nightclubs

Alongside its status as the city of fashion, Milan is known for its nightlife and location as a popular spot for celebrities to come to party.

Several venues such as Radetzky Cafe, Dry Milano and Terrazza Aperol offer stunning views of Milan.

Terrazza Aperol hosts exclusive parties, something that is ideal for footballers, while it offers a beautiful outlook in the shadow of Milan's cathedral.

The venue markets itself as 'the salon of new gastronomic, musical and lifestyle trends'.

Meanwhile, Radetzky is described as 'an institution for nightlife lovers', while it can also be hired out for private gatherings.

Several stars have been seen enjoying Milan's nightlife over the years and there are multiple other options that appeal to footballers who are looking to blow off some steam.

Il Gattopardo, which is set in an old church, is known as most exclusive club in Milan, meaning it is perhaps no surprise footballers regularly frequent the venue.

Elsewhere, 11Clubroom and Hollywood Rythmoteque are similarly popular locations and both are similarly recognised for their exclusivity.

Schools

For Walker, it remains to be seen if he will be joined by his wife Kilner and their four kids.

Mail Online reported last week that Kilner is reportedly considering taking back their impending £27m divorce and has moved the star back into the marital home.

The 33-year-old served Walker, 34, with divorce papers in October and kicked him out of the property after she discovered he had secretly fathered a second child with his ex Lauryn Goodman, 33.

Sources say Kilner, who was pregnant with their fourth child when Goodman dropped the bombshell, is now having second thoughts about their split and is 'quietly working on her relationship with Walker behind the scenes'.

If Walker's family do move with him, it is likely that The British School of Milan would be among the defender's top options for his children's education.

The co-ed independent school was founded in 1969 and offers education from nursery through to year 13.

The school is rated as one of the top International Baccalaureate schools in Europe, while it is the only educational institution in Milan that satisfies all the requirements set by UK Government Inspectors.

Living

The San Siro, which is the home ground of both Inter and Milan, is one of the most iconic stadiums in world football.

The venue's location around 30 minutes from the centre of Milan only adds to its appeal.

This means that while some stars choose to live in large locations on the outskirts of Milan, many also base themselves in apartments or penthouses in the heart of the city given the proximity to the stadium.

Several exclusive districts have opened up where footballers tend to be based, with exclusive and elegant villas, modern skyscrapers and luxury apartments having been developed.

This includes the Brera neighbourhood, where several VIPs and footballers have been based in recent years, including AC legend Paolo Maldini.

Elsewhere, the Portello, Isola and CityLife neighbourhoods are similarly popular, with a mixture of AC and Inter players living among each other.

The CityLife neighbourhood is viewed by many as the future of Milan and the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Mike Maignan are said to be based there.

Meanwhile, footballing divides can also play a part in where stars live in the city, with one report detailing how a Juventus player wanted to buy a friend's penthouse.

However, as the owner supported AC Milan, he refused to sell the property to the star.

Whatever happens to Walker over the next couple of weeks, if he does make the move to Milan, he could walk into a glamorous lifestyle that is unlikely to leave him bored.
