Everton were able to take a point from their game against Arsenal on the weekend after finding themselves behind. However, it was another game where David Moyes’ side found themselves in the middle of a refereeing controversy. The Toffees were fortunately on the right end of the decision this time as Jack Harrison was brought down to earn a penalty for Everton.Mike Dean slammed Everton’s penalty award on Saturday, with the former referee saying it was extremely harsh. And it has sparked further talk of poor officiating following the controversial Merseyside Derby last week.Jamie Carragher has now shared his stance on the penalty awarded to the Toffees whilst speaking on Monday Night Football.Photo by Crystal Pix/MB Media/Getty ImagesJamie Carragher slams Everton penalty decision against ArsenalMany felt James Tarkowski should have been sent off against Liverpool for his reckless challenge last week at Anfield. But the only goal of the game went against Everton, with some serious claims for offside.MORE EVERTON STORIESAfter getting the rub of the green on Saturday, Carragher has weighed in on the debate about Myles Lewis-Skelly’s foul on Harrison.“It’s a mess where he [Lewis-Skelly] finds himself. In some ways, I can understand the referee giving it as soon as he saw Lewis-Skelly almost the wrong side of Harrison, he’s just waiting for any type of contact,” said Carragher.“There’s very little, maybe just falls on the back of his boot, but in terms of VAR, it’s the slightest touch. When you look at it, it’s very soft for me. It’s not a penalty.”Craig Bellamy also reacted: “There’s contact, so there’s always going to be an argument for it. What you see is clever from Harrison he’s got on the right side of him, he’s waiting for contact.”The Toffees got what they deserved in the end after Moyes inspired a second-half comeback after speaking to his players during the break. There were opportunities for Everton to take all three points in the end, but they moved one point closer to safety.David Moyes makes big Everton U-turnAfter Ipswich Town fell apart during their game against Wolves on Saturday, Premier League survival looks all but secure now.Of course, it is not yet mathematically confirmed and anything can happen in football. But Ipswich would need a miracle to stop up and Moyes has now admitted he’ll visit Bramley-Moore Dock this week. This is a considerable turnaround from the 61-year-old who has been putting off the visit until Everton are safe. With planning for the new season underway, salt could be rubbed into the wound as Everton eye a move for Ipswich’s Liam Delap.
