The date 24 March 2026 marks 10 years since the death of Johan Cruyff, a unique figure who changed the course of Barça history. An extraordinary footballer, a revolutionary coach and a great thinker in the game, the Dutchman has left a legacy that goes beyond mere silverware, it is a way of understanding football and Barça.

Cruyff came to the Club in 1973 and immediately won over the culers with his talent and his footballing vision. On the field he led a side that brought excitement back to a generation of fans and he was the hero of the famous 1973/74 season that saw him win the Ballon d'Or for a third time and orchestrate a 5-0 in the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Madrid.

In 1988 Cruyff would return to Barça, this time as coach, instigating another revolution. Committed to an attacking style of play based on possession, talent and confidence in young talent, this way of approaching football would in time become part of the Club's identity, and gave rise to the greatest eras of Barça history.

With Cruyff at the helm, the 'Dream Team' won four league titles in a row between 1991 and 1994, as well as making history by winning FC Barcelona's first ever European Cup in 1992, beating Sampdoria in the final at Wembley.

His legacy, however, cannot just be measured in trophies. Cruyff gave birth to the idea that today defines Barça: a way of playing and understanding football that is a form of collective expression based on creativity and courage. His confidence in the blaugrana youth system and in a common philosophy marked the path ahead for future generations of players and coaches.

On 24 March 2016, Johan Cruyff passed away in Barcelona but his figures lives on in the Club's way of playing and thinking about football and in its very essence. 10 years on, Barça fans continue to remember the man who taught that football is more more than a game.

As he used to say to his players, "go out there and enjoy it," is probably the best way to understand him and to pay tribute to the man.

The legend of Johan Cruyff lives on, more alive than ever.
