The ceremony, held in Mumbai, honoured Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Radha Yadav, all of whom played pivotal roles in India’s maiden World Cup triumph earlier this month.Devendra Fadnavis presented the players with mementoes and congratulated them for bringing “immense pride" to Maharashtra. He said their performances had “lifted the stature of Indian women’s cricket" and inspired countless young athletes across the country.‘Your Victory Has Made Maharashtra Proud’Addressing the players, Devendra Fadnavis said the nation was still celebrating India’s landmark victory in the final against South Africa on November 2 at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium.“You have created history. The world has witnessed the rise of a new champion in women’s cricket, and Maharashtra is proud that three of its daughters were at the heart of this achievement," he said earlier. The CM praised Smriti Mandhana’s commanding batting performances, Jemimah Rodrigues’ consistency through the middle order and Radha Yadav’s crucial breakthroughs with the ball, saying their contributions were “instrumental in shaping India’s winning campaign."Devendra Fadnavis reiterated the Maharashtra government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure and opportunities for women in sports.“Your success will inspire thousands of young girls to take up cricket and other sports. The state government will continue to support talent at every level so that many more champions emerge from Maharashtra," he said.India’s first-ever ICC Women’s World Cup win set off celebrations nationwide. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earlier announced a ₹51-crore reward for the team and support staff to commemorate the achievement.Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met the World Cup–winning squad.
