‘Marc Guehi to snub Arsenal offer in favour of joining Liverpool’

Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi is prepared to snub interest from Arsenal if he is not given assurances over his playing time.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes would start ahead of the 24-year-old.

The Gunners have been keeping a close eye on the Palace defender’s situation, but it now appears he would prefer a move to Liverpool.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 20 June that Guehi wants to join Liverpool to compete for the Premier League and Champions League.

It comes as the Reds will pave the way for a new centre-back signing by selling Jarell Quansah to Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen.

Football Insider revealed on 20 June that Quansah has agreed terms with the Leverkusen and is set to undergo a medical ahead of joining for a club-record £35million fee.

Liverpool to step up Marc Guehi interest after Arsenal snub

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider last month that Guehi could be about to join Liverpool as they plan to step up their interest.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted the defender’s priority is to play regular football with the 2026 World Cup at the top of his agenda.

“Marc Guehi wants to play regular football next season,” he told Football Insider.

“Wherever he goes, that’s going to be his priority because he’ll have one eye on the World Cup where he’ll want to be playing a key role.

“If they can’t promise him that at Arsenal with Saliba and Gabriel in the side, he’ll be prepared to turn them down.

“The same goes for any other club, if he won’t be playing first-team football, I don’t think he’ll go.

“There’s been the same talk about him for a year now, is he going to Newcastle, Arsenal, Liverpool?

“Out of those, I think Newcastle and Liverpool would be ready to offer him regular football.

“I don’t know how strong the interest is, with Newcastle especially after they missed out last year although they have still been looking.

“I think Guehi could go somewhere like Liverpool and establish himself in the team, because he’s good enough to do that and he will show that if he goes.

“Where he goes will be down to him, though, because it’s a big decision to make.

“Palace want to get it done early so they can go and get his replacement, so we’ll see what happens.”

Andy Robertson update emerges at Anfield

While incoming deals have been very much on the agenda at Anfield so far this summer, they are also prepared to lose a number of players to balance the books.

Brown told Football Insider on 20 June that Liverpool are prepared to sell Andy Robertson as they close in on a deal for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

Kerkez is expected to come in as the first-choice option under Slot which has led to growing speculation surrounding Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider on 18 June that Robertson wants to join Atletico Madrid rather than staying in the Premier League.
