The Italian Open slammed for ‘absolutely disgraceful’ decision they have made involving Casper Ruud

The Italian Open is now reaching its latter stages, with Casper Ruud among the ATP players reaching the last 16.

Ruud was drawn against Jaume Munar in the Italian Open round of 16, having previously beaten Alexander Bublik an​​d Matteo Berrettini.

The Norwegian is the sixth seed at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament, which he entered as the Madrid Open champion.

Ruud received congratulations from Rafael Nadal after his win in the Madrid Open final, where he overcame Jack Draper.

He is now firmly focused on the Italian Open, but his time in Rome certainly hasn’t been without controversy.

Due to heavy rainfall in the Italian capital, the fourth round meeting between Ruud and Munar was postponed from Tuesday until Wednesday.

And the timing of the decision has left former professional CoCo Vandeweghe very frustrated, with the match postponed very late on in the evening.

Asked on Tennis Channel if the match should have been postponed so late, she replied: “No, it should have been decided, not only to get it to a different court, but also to keep these men on schedule.

“That’s what we talked about from the start, and the fact that they kept these men this late this long, is absolutely disgraceful for them to not only play to the best of their ability but to be able to recover for the next round.”

What are Casper Ruud’s ATP career serve stats on clay?

Nadal is the undisputed clay-court champion, having dominated the surface before his retirement last season.

Among his stunning achievements are 14 French Open titles, which he achieved on the iconic clay courts of Roland Garros.
