Cam Little was weeks off from history, not yards, when he closed the first half of the Jacksonville Jaguars' preseason opener with a kick the NFL has never seen.On the final play of the second quarter, the Jaguars kicker drilled a 70-yard field goal to cut the Pittsburgh Steelers' lead to 14-9. He was immediately mobbed by teammates before heading to the locker room.AdvertisementAdvertisement Advertisement[Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season]"Holy smokes, they got a shot," broadcaster Bucky Brooks said as the kick sailed through the air.The longest field goal in NFL history belongs to former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, who made a 66-yarder against the Detroit Lions in 2021. Little's kick beat that mark by 4 yards, but it doesn't count because he did it in preseason.Cam Little has a big leg. (AP Photo/Phelan M. There might be competition to break the Tucker record, though, most notably from Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, who owns the second-longest field goal in NFL history at 65 yards and hit a 66-yarder in preseason last year.AdvertisementAdvertisement AdvertisementWhile it doesn't count as far as the NFL is concerned, the kick does appear to be the longest kicked in any known football competition. The previous longest came at the college level, where Abilene Christian's Ove Johansson made a 69-yarder in 1976.The Jaguars drafted Little in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He enjoyed a successful rookie season last year, going 27-for-29 on field goals with a long of 59 yards. He was also perfect on 27 extra point attempts and forced a touchback on 85.5% of kickoffs. Before his NFL career, Little was one of the top kickers in his class after earning first-team All-SEC honors at Arkansas. He was actually the third kicker taken in the draft at 212th overall, behind Will Reichard (Minnesota Vikings, 203rd overall) and Joshua Karty (Los Angeles Rams, 209th overall).
