A round-up of the latest Everton transfer news and gossip as David Moyes continues his bid to add more signings to his squad

If it's any consolation, David Moyes will be feeling the same. After all, the Everton boss pointedly made it clear after each of the signings he has made so far this summer that more new faces are needed and more will be on the way.

But one look at the threadbare squads that Moyes was able to name for the 1-1 draw at Accrington Stanley and the 1-0 loss at Blackburn Rovers offered a stark reminder that there's plenty to be done in the transfer market yet.

That's not to say good work has not been done. The £15m Carlos Alcaraz and the £27m Thierno Barry are exciting arrivals while the £5m Mark Travers showed why he will be an able deputy to Jordan Pickford with an assured display on his unofficial debut at Ewood Park at the weekend.

Tying the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Idrissa Gueye to new contracts was also paramount.

But, with a number of experienced first-team players having left, there is a realisation that more business needs to be done before the Premier League campaign kicks off against Leeds United at Elland Road in just under four weeks' time.

It will not be for the lack of trying and Everton continue to be regular features in the transfer gossip columns. And, as we await signing number four of the summer, we take a look at some of the latest speculation...

Ashley Young move

Of the aforementioned older players to leave the club, perhaps the most surprising departure was Ashley Young. While he may have lost his place at right-back to Jake O’Brien, Young remained a key squad member under Moyes.

But perhaps in a desire for more starts, the newly-turned 40-year-old joined the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin through the exit door.

Both of those players are still searching for new clubs. But it appears Young is about to find one with talkSPORT reporting the former England international is close to joining Ipswich Town, who were relegated into the Championship last season, after talks about an emotional return to Watford broke down.

Adam Aznou interest

One of Young's best assets was his versatility and his departure means Moyes currently has just one senior left-back at his disposal in Vitalii Mykolenko. And, given the Ukrainian international missed nine games last season, cover and competition in that position is desperately needed.

To that end, Paddy Boyland in The Athletic has this morning (July 22) reported that Everton are interested in Adam Aznou.

A new name to many supporters, Aznou is a 19-year-old, three-capped Morocco international who was born in Barcelona and spent three years in the club's La Masia academy before moving to Bayern Munich in 2022. He spent the second half of last season back in Spain on loan at Real Valladolid.

Douglas Luis wants out

Douglas Luis is a name who has been linked with the Blues throughout the summer. And this morning (July 22) a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport states the Brazil international wants to quit Juventus as soon as possible and return to England.

The 27-year-old, who only joined the Serie A giants from Aston Villa last summer, is said to keen to boost his chances of making Brazil's World Cup.

And the report also suggests that along with Everton, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest are interested in a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Jacob Ramsey would be a 'huge coup'

Meanwhile, Forest are leading the race to sign a current Aston Villa midfielder, Jacob Ramsey, according to Football Insider.

But the Blues have once again been credited with interest in the 24-year-old England hopeful.

Transfer correspondent Pete O'Rourke said: "Everton are showing ambitious moves in the transfer market.

“They’ve brought in Barry from Villarreal, and if they were to get Ramsey, it would be a huge coup.

“If Villa were to sell him, Forest would be able to get to that £40-50m mark, and having European football at the City Ground might just give them the edge."

Hamza Igamane link

According to Foot Mercato, the Blues are preparing a bid for Rangers forward Hamza Igamane.

The Morocco international, who scored 16 goals in his debut campaign for the Glasgow giants, is said to be a successor for the Tottenham Hotspur-linked Arnaud Kalimuendo at Rennes.

But the report suggests the French club could face stiff competition for Igamane, with the 23-year-old said to be on the radar of Everton along with Feyenoord and Udinese.
