The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced that the players’ draft for its much-awaited 10th edition will take place on January 11, 2025. The announcement was made through a short 26-second promo shared on the league’s social media platforms with the caption, “The countdown begins.”The video featured television screens revealing the date of the draft, exciting fans for the upcoming season. Sources have also confirmed that the registration process for both domestic and foreign players will kick off this week. The six franchises have proposed holding the players' draft in England or Dubai to boost the league’s popularity internationally. They have also emphasized the importance of signing high-profile foreign players, particularly those overlooked in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has assured the franchises that they will strive to include notable overseas players. Additionally, franchises have requested financial support from the PCB to secure top international talent.Efforts are also being made to involve English players in the tournament, but challenges remain. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided not to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to its players for overseas leagues that clash with England’s domestic season. This decision could impact the participation of English cricketers in the PSL, as the next edition overlaps with their domestic schedule. The 10th season of the PSL will also face a significant challenge as it is scheduled to run alongside the IPL for the first time since 2016. The PSL, typically held in February-March, has been shifted to April-May 2025 due to Pakistan hosting the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy during its usual window.
